VISION
To provide an effective adult education platform where learners are encouraged to construct their own knowledge of technology. Through student exploration of course work, students will simulate realistic situations they will experience in real workforce settings. Lessons will incorporate computer literacy development and specific course materials that promote the skills needed to succeed in future endeavors.
In accordance with the National Educational Technology Plan and the need to provide 21st Century skills, students will engage in relevant learning experiences such as real work scenarios, application of critical thinking, and problem solving. Students will learn effective communication skills through expressing, validating, managing and recognizing the use of emotional intelligence. The focus of this technology course will be to provide equity and equality in the delivery of instruction.
For adult learners to be successful, teachers will identify student learning needs and student goals. After identifying individualized student needs and goals, teachers will incorporate different learning styles to meet student needs and implement adjusted teaching plans. Evaluation of student progress will be based on individualized performance. Andragogy and constructivism theories will guide teachers in developing curriculum that is relevant to today’s workforce.
Coursework will be provided both in class and at home through online synchronous and online asynchronous instruction. During distance learning, students will meet through Zoom sessions and collaborate with partners and small groups to complete assigned projects. Periodically, students will come on campus for in-person individualized sessions and assessments. Students will use Google Classroom to submit assignments either in class or online at home. Whether students are learning online at home or in person, I want them to feel like my class is their gateway to technology.
